They are actually womes heathered thigh high boot socks. ....I had looked at traditional kilt socks but with my boots being as tall as they are it didn't seem there would be much, if any, of the sock showing....then I saw these and my thinking was if they are thigh high on an average woman then they should just come a bit past my knees , which they did, and as I wanted to add one more element to the overall look I bought them.....and there you have it!

Ok, that makes more sense. Normal kilt hose would probably be ok if you don't turn the tops down, or turn them down over the boot tops. They are fairly long, but whatever is comfortable I guess. I like the long boots but they'd be too hot here. Summer is bare foot or sandles only.

I was volunteering at the Kentucky Humane Society black tie gala which is why I went with the socks in the first place.....even though it was very cool inside the ballroom I still sweated due to them....definitely not suitable for anything but Autumn & Winter in any other situation!!

I have a couple pair of riding type boots but I never really thought about pairing them with a kilt. I will certainly try that "look" once the weather cools off a bit. Right now, here at the beach, I'm more about sandals or even barefoot around the house and yard.

Lol....same here without the beach obviously. ...it's hot as hades at the moment! I got quite a few compliments that night for the kilt/boot combo, so give it a shot ya never know how it may turn out!!
My inspiration for the look came from pictures of officer/other ranks wearing these type of boots in the trenches during the Great War!

Someone pointed me towards some whiteish cotton socks that could be used as kilt hose. Only cost me $15 with free postage to Europe. Bargain. I'm on my tablet now but later I'll find the website and send you a link.

I will have to say that the first thought to my mind was .... wow , I bet his legs are burning up !

Wearing a kilt in hot weather doesn't bother me , but my lower legs always tend to heat up in kilt hose ... I'm a slender guy but for whatever reason the legs tend to heat up fast .

I can only imagine the heat from the boots and the socks , especially given the weather lately !
