    sewn felt. balmoral or tam

I recently got some brown 100% wool felt that is about 3 mm thick. I plan on sewing it into a balmoral or tam. My question is if it would be considered a balmoral because it is felt, or a tam because it is sewn together. Or is it a hybrid or "balmotam"?

    Perhaps a Tamoral?

A friend of mine made a "balmoral" bonnet the same way. Knitting isn't his thing and he hasn't made a color choice yet for me to knit one for him. If it's the right shape then it's whatever you call it.

Good to know I'm not the only one that will have one. I am fine with knitting but none of the wool yarn I have will felt. I think it should turn out fine though...

Post an image when you're done. I'd be interested to see it.

I will post a pic. Can you recommend a size for the top piece? My head circumference where i wear my hats is 23 inches exactly.

I can ask him what pattern he used. Here are a couple of links that might help with the sewn version in the meantime.

If you can get the yarn you need, here's the pattern I've been using. I learned to knit just so I could make one: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...almoral-bonnet
