Kilted Wednesday
I've seen a few Kilted Friday (casual Friday) posts.
I'm a newbie. Kilts were not uncommon in the area of Cape Breton I grew up in, but except for a tartan outfit sewn up by Mom, I've not worn a kilt until a month ago.
Wednesdays are a non-office day for me with errands and such filling up the hours. Today, then, became my first "kilt day". One shop where we all know each other gave for some conversation about the where's and why's - along with some compliments on colour and fit (clanranald ancient, MacKilts) A few 'nice kilt' calls in passing and a few second-looks (kilts, after all, are not a usual garment around here). Only one 'nice skirt' from the optometrist assistant (who caught herself saying the wrong word) and a "my mother would love it!" (she's a Scot I learned) from the optometrist himself.
The outfit itself is casual. Complimentary sweater with black sport socks 'long and thickish' and hikers. The one simple black sporran I have.
My young adult daughter was along for the optometrists. "What's with the kilt today?" Says me, "The old man is getting quirky". "Punks (rockers) wear them here" she says. She'll get used to it
The rest of the day yet to go, and already feeling as common as a pair of jeans (and infinitely more comfortable). I now know how often I lazily place a hand in my pocket, and the art of sitting and getting in and out of the SUV still needs some practice.
No, no pic yet..but I'll work on it.

Good for you! Any day can and should be a kilt day.

I would happily do the same, but working dress and kilts don't match
