MTV Tartan
This could be the final sign of the apocalypse... MTV registered their own tartan.

Neither particularly attractive, nor particularly repulsive. Somewhat unlike MTV, which in my lifetime has been both.

The MTV Europe Music Awards are in Glasgow, Scotland on the 9th of November, so that might be the reason for the timing.
Hopefully this will mean tartan will be getting some good exposure on the night (We can hope!) and we might get to see a few kilts on show!
It would be interesting to hear the reasoning behind the colours in the tartan, as I can't quite work it out.

In the Registration notes: "Designed for the 2014 MTV Music Awards in collaboration with The Big Group and their client Viacom using the MTV awards corporate colours."

I just received this same email from the Scottish Register of Tartans today. Interesting, but I bet ScottishStuart might be right about it being registered to coincide with the MTV Europe Music Awards.

All the lines in the tartan reminded me of the test patterns on late night TV back in the day.

We just need the annoying tone to go with it.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I can't wait to see who the first one to wear pants with the MTV kilt will be.

If the pants be trews, and the pleats forward, "bass-ack-awards" should be the band name.

Not a bad looking tartan. I haven't watched MTV in many years now. The idiotic reality shows they had and have and the terrible music, which just seems to get worse, was a big "turnoff". I gave up television over ten years ago now and I haven't missed it one bit!
