Let the jones begin! (for real this time)

I bought one of the last lengths of the Cthulhu/ R'lyeh tartan about this time last year. I had to save money to have it made into a kilt, so I jonesed until July when I finally had enough to order a kilt. That's about an 8 month wait.

Then I started losing weight, so I had to put my order on hold until my weight stabilized. That was another 4 months. I have waited and jonesed for a year now. I got an email from Steve this morning telling me that they just laid out the fabric for my kilt today.

So the jones has now begun in earnest. Pics as soon as it arrives!

Egad! A year is long enough to get a child potty trained. However did you survive? I think we should add step #13 to the kilt addiction guidelines, (study photos of the tartan that is on the way.)

Yes, Mike did first contact us right about a year ago with this project.

But just so there is no misunderstanding - Mike was working on loosing weight. So his order has been sitting on the top of my order board till I got his new measurements.

Mike sent us his fabric in July and it has been sitting here waiting for Mike's final go ahead.
As soon as Mike Skyped me with his new measurements we moved him back to the active board and we began laying out his kilt this morning.

Congratulations Mike you went from a 47" waist down to a 42" waist. You also got your hips down to 47" from 50".

I should be able to get some photos posted tomorrow. Mike wants this kilt pleated to "No Stripe" which is a term coined by our own Barb T. This means that while each pleat is the same, as in pleating to the stripe, there is not a prominent vertical stripe down the pleats.
The idea with this kilt is to have it flash a lighter green when he walks.

As I said the idea behind this kilt is that Mike wants the maximum "flash" of light green to the pleats.

I think he is going to enjoy this.

And here is what it looks like laid out and basted.
You can still see the flash of green up in the Fell but this will be sewn down in the finished kilt.

Now for a real surprise.
When you flop this kilt over, and look at the inside, it is pleated perfectly to the purple stripe.
How cool is that?
