Can somebody provide some more details on the error? I noticed that when I tried to upload a large photo, I got an error because the files was too large in both absolute size and also the dimensions of the photo. It looked like this:
You just need to mouse over the red exclamation icon to see the error.

The way I got around it was to use photobucket and link the picture. It gets around the size thing.

Not all of use use photobucket and shouldn't be forced to do so when we've uploaded photos for years directly from our iPads, iPhones, etc....
Please continue to work on this problem Steve.....until then, no photos from me......
( p.s. - have not graded my OS in the last 10 months...so things are the same....)

Rob, I tried to upload some small ones and we'll see what I get this time:
Ha! That was only 84 kb. Let me try another one:
My 1.16 mb wouldn't upload although I've posted it before. Let me try the same one with the basic uploader; it's usually worked better for me. I may have to start a new post to get to it.

Second attempt
There; that one worked but it refused another which it said was too large... although I've posted it here in another thread before.
Not sure how to help beyond that, Rob. I'll fool around with it a bit more.

There; according to my computer, this one is within the limits set by XMarks, but this kind of attachment is what I've been getting rather than embedding the way the others were.
This is the glitch I've been talking about; perhaps the same as others are experiencing too.
Hope that helps, Rob!
Cheers & Blessings,
Bill+

I have just tried to upload a photo using the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the Quick Reply window.
When the upload box opened I selected "From Computer".
I hit the "Select File" button in the window
I found an image on my hard drive. The format was .jpg and the size is 1600X1200 pixels and 775kb.
I clicked 'Open' which returned me to the upload box.
My images name and file size appear in the box.
I click "Upload File(s)" and it appears to upload correctly. The progress bar progresses.
After the upload I see a red error icon to the right of my file name in the box. (An exclamation point in a red circle)
If I hove my mouse over the error icon it says -
"The dimension limits for this filetype are 1024 x 1024. We were unable to re-size your file so you will need to do that manually and upload again. Your file is currently 1600x1200."
I then did the same process but found an image that is 173X173 with a size of 6.65KB
This image uploaded fine.
I then went back and re-sized my original image using Faststone.
The new image is still .jpg but now 1024X768 using 248KB.
This is what appears.
The difference between the two images seems to be the HTML code.
The first, good image's code is - bracket ATTACH=CONFIG bracket 23394 bracket backslash ATTACH bracket
The Second image's code is - bracket ATTACH bracket 23396 bracket backslash ATTACH bracket
Does this help Rob?
OH, and I just noticed that if you click Father Bill's and my incorrect code (Which appear different) the image opens.
And if I go to edit mode, add the =CONGIG to my second image code both of my images will show up just fine. But only in edit mode as a thumbnail.

Not sure if this is happening in these instances, but vBulletin has a back of the house setting that limits both the size of the image that can be uploaded, as well as the number of images one can post in a single post. This is found in the forum settings area of the Owner/Administrator level menu. The total space allotted to each member's current uploaded attachment history can also be regulated. It may become necessary to delete some of your attachments to make room for new ones.
It is sometime necessary to post a series of attachment photos in MULTIPLE, successive posts rather that try to put them all in one.

From what folks are saying perhaps the problem is in the automatic re-size function.
I know that this used to work quite well. I never had a problem before with the software re-sizing my images.
This may be the same issue Rex is having with his Avatar.

Thanks all, that helps to narrow it down, at least the specifics of what is happening. Now, just need to figure out why vBulletin is treating some images differently from others. Very bizarre.
And @Mike S, I had already checked the control panel settings and they are fine, but thanks for the input.
