Maybe I am a country bumpkin, but I have not been to a black tie affair in my adult life. It would be cool to have a nice THCD formal outfit, but I have little opportunity to wear it. Currently, I am just trying to work on my wearing of THCD in general! That said, this is Burns Night at my home last year, about as nice as I have dressed. Pardon the buttoned jacket, I know better now! I also hope to look even better this year!

Here is my White Tie outfit, I've lost a few pounds since this photo was taken so it does fit better now.

Nice. Other than a small sample I wove years ago this is the only example I've seen.

Peter,
Yes, not too many of these floating around, I'd assume. It was a special weave by DC Dalgliesh. And the kilt maker was Wallace Catanach, an XMTS member.
A year or so later, I had Wallace make three more, of the same tartan, kilts for my two sons and myself. However, I chose to lighten up the green, which turned out to be less than I wanted. And, the 24 yards that we had made, before prices went skyrocketing, were not quite to the standard that Dalgliesh is noted for. For whatever reason, the material has a pucker to it. I, along with Wallace, tried to steam it out and press it. No luck! Anyway, here's the "other" color MacDonagh tartan:

As a side note, looks who's watching me through the window....my Airedale, Artan.

My favourite kilted picture of me with my wife and son at a Christmas Eve party which is an evening function that is smart but informal.

I mostly only wear black tie to Masonic functions these days. this is from a fellow XMTS member's installation as Master of his Lodge in September 2012. My sporran is under my apron which was my late Grandfather's who himself became a Master Mason under the English Constitution in British India in 1937. I was the only grandson out of four who showed any interest in joining the Craft and my late grandmother insisted it went to me after she passed on. Unfortunately this also shows the extent of my scoliosis.

Even older is this graduation photo from Glasgow University (LLM degree) in December 2003 complete with off white hose and ghillie brogues.
