While pre-tied ruches—or any other neck tie—are convenient, there is something to be said for learning to do-it-yourself. A ruche tie (aka cocolupa) is just an ascot cravat tied with a loose 4-in-hand knot.

Thank for that. Can't say I'm a lot wiser, but I'll know what to look for if I ever have to find out. If I can avoid it, I don't wear ties and when I do it always amazes me that I can still form some sort of reasonable knot.
