I'm not sure how to answer the poll. I'm not an officer, I just joined the Clan Buchanan Society International last week at the Stone Mountain Highland Games. I haven't received a welcome package or membership information, yet. I do wear the tartan, though!

That's fine. Congratulations, by the way on joining Clan Buchanan.

I'm the (soon to be Past) president of the St. Andrew's Society of Jacksonville, The Clan and Societies Chairman for the Northeast Florida Scottish Games & Festival, a piper in a band, and very tired!

Clan Involvement
My husband is the president of the Clan Donnachaidh Society of Southern California. I am the recording secretary of the Society. We really enjoy our involvement in the local Scottish community. I am on the board of the Clans of the Highlands, a SoCal organization of local Clanns, military organizations, Highland dance groups, etc.
Supporting the local Games, our Clan activities ( very active Clan with something for everyone), travel, and our church commitments I wonder how we had time to work! So glad we are retired!

I am not an Officer of any kind, just a member, but I am often found at our Davidson tent at games, and help with people's questions, give Debbie Davidson our local covener breaks, etc. I am also helping with the planning of our National General Meeting which will be at the Southern Maryland Highland Games next year, which is in our area.

None of the answers fit.
There used to be a Callaghan clan society in Ireland, in Mallow, County Cork, which is where the clan lands were, but AFAIK it is defunct. Despite that there is a chief, I believe, but he lives in Barcelona, Spain.
The clan tartan is woven only by Dalgleish, and therefore a bit out of my price range, so I couldn't even answer that I wear the clan tartan.

Sorry to hear that your tartan is exclusive. Are you a member of any other Celtic groups or societies?

Clan Fergusson member and officer
I see that being a n000b here I may not see the poll or the poll has closed , but I am a Clan Fergusson member et al , and am serving in one appointed confirmed position already as Clan IT Manager , and was recently appointed Region 6 VP for general membership organizational and recruiting purposes . For this second position I was appointed by our clan president , but must be confirmed by the board of directors at the clans AGM in a few months . From my perspective the difference in being 'in the clan' and being an officer in elected position is that I am { will be } responsible for { or will be when confirmed } for being part of shaping the future of our organization from the 501c aspect as well as the convener / nitty gritty wearing the clan tartan and showing off my not so knobby knees to the public at various festivals .
