Thank you. There is a thread here somewhere in which I did a detailed expose' of how shoes are made...maybe three pages long and chock full of photos, as I recall.

FWIW, the buckle in the first photo is a reproduction. The buckle on the shoes where I'm wearing them is an 18th or early 19th century buckle sourced for me by the head shoemaker at Colonial Williamsburg. German silver.
