And again, love the colors in that kilt; big fan of purples with greens and blues, and that one blends them extremely well.

How was your experience with R&I MacDonald Kiltmakers? I read them recommended from another source, but that was several years old.
Cheers Chip, R&I MacDonald Kiltmakers were really nice and helpful as their was no fittings all the measurements and advice were done via telephone calls, photos and e-mails which probably made it a bit harder for them but I have to say the fit is really nice and the length correct although you can't make this out from the above photo.

They are a very old traditional establishment that still hand stitch the kilts. My Dunans Rising kilt feels like it will last me the rest of my life and they did say if I ever needed it altering just to return it to them. I do not recall how I came across them but my guess is that it was probably via this very forum.

Oh yes the serpent! At our local RenFaire there's a band which includes a serpent. For a piper, it's fascinating to see somebody play something like that.

I play my "Cornish Doublepipes" at the Faire sometimes. Doublepipes were common throughout Britain during that time.

Bringing the themes of Christmas and the southwest together (but not kilts, alas) here's a Carol for you all, on my cobbled-together quasi-Cornish Doublepipe

One branch of my family are miners from Tywardreath, who came to West Virginia to continue their trade. Think Doc Martin but with a silted-up beach.
