Thanks, Tarheel. I will take some more pictures and post them, but it will probably be tomorrow. By the way, Vince adorned the top of the handle with a pierced heart.
Vince is a knife and sword maker who lives in Hawaii, though I believe he was in Arizona when we first started corresponding about the project. His wife does the carving. I was referred to him by Lamar Britt. There are some other examples of his work in this forum.

A truly heirloom quality Sgian in a sea of cheap plastic and pot metal junk that we commonly see these days. Whatever you paid for it, it is well worth the money! What a thing of beauty.

Lamar has several examples of Vince's work, and I consider myself fortunate to have held the latest acquired.
Vince was in Scotland and was able to convince a museum to allow close examination of a historic dirk; holding,
weighing, measuring, close photos, eyeballs all over. Lamar got an exact replica made. Words cannot convey
the astonishing work I had in my hand. Twenty and a half ounces, beautifully balanced, itself museum quality.
I've had other impressive dirks in my hand, even others made by him; this one is astonishing. He seems to just
get better and better at the craft. If you can swing it, jump on it.

And from the hands of a maker with a good Welsh name, Evans, too. Hyfryd!
