Interesting article , I have read some information before about the attempts of trying to save and restore Duart Castle .

I have worked in the occupational field of architecture , construction and renovation all my life and it always deeply saddens me to see these situations which are many . I have read about the financial difficulties of either maintaining or restoring such pieces of history whether in Scotland or England .

Generally the task is monumental in the case of Duart Castle . I would venture to say that the reality of bringing it to a proper state of condition in every aspect would probably exceed 50 million pounds given the age , the deterioration , the type of materials needed and the historical restoration requirements .

Once that's done there is always the cost of constant maintenance .

As always , this is to be expected but so very sad to see .
