    Yeh, I think you won't be happy with it if you don't take the pleats out and re-stitch, although you'll get better at pleating as you go along. Here's a suggestion - measure carefully, and put maybe 6-8 pins in each pleat to hold it while you stitch (be sure to put the pins in perpendicular to the edge of the pleat, though, otherwise the fabric will slide, and the stripes will misalign). I also do a measurement at the midpoint along the fell to make sure that they all taper the same.

    Putting more than one pin in was not negotiable with Elsie when I wrote the book, so the book only says one. Me, I pin every pleat with multiple pins. You'll see my argument for why it it is not a waste of time in the post above.

    I think you're going to be fine with the pleating you've chosen - it is the ideal pleating for a first kilt because you don't have to worry about what happens within the pleat - just keeping it the right width and matching the stripes.
