Dart at the inverted pleat

I have been following TAoK step by step. I'm baffled by the dart on page 85. The dart is basted, but I cannot find any mention of permanently stitching it. Once the inverted pleat is permanently tacked down on page 88, the dart becomes completely inaccessible. What am I missing?

I am at about the same stage in my kilt. The basting is just to give the dart its shape. Unlike most of the rest of the basting you have done, you will not remove these basting stitches; they stay in. I was initially wondering about this step, since I don't have a lot of shaping in my kilt (or my body), but I look at my other kilt and discovered the dart in it... basting stitches still in place.

I don't think you have to worry about it too much. (they are still basting stitches after all.) The stitches only have to hold until you get everything pressed, then the dart should pretty much be established and when you sew on the waistband you will catch the top of the dart.

It doesn't matter whether the basting is well-anchored. It just holds it for pressing, and the top of the dart will be caught in the top band stitching. Even if the basting falls out inside the kilt after you press it (which it is unlikely to), it doesn't matter.
