Also the van Dyke (correct name for the zig-zag pattern)on the feather bonnets worn pipers by the Royal Scots Greys was white. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards adopted the yellow vandyke as this was the facing colour of the 3rd Carabiniers, with whom the Greys amalgamated on 2nd July 1971.
And I suppose, but not sure that
- RSGreys worn red and black diced hose and RSDG changed hose to red and green.
- RSGreys worn white/silver lacing on pipers doublets and RSDG changed to yellow/gold.
I have to check...
