It's an interesting marketing ploy but there is no such colour as
woad blue, as opposed to
blue dyed with woad.
The lighter blue of these bonnets is merely a result of less dyestuff being used but any shade of blue is possible from woad as it is from true
Indigo.
That is essentially how Gloria explained it to me, as I had never heard of 'woad' before.
