Informal?
Tattersall type shirt, pullover sweater, brown sporran & brogues (not gillies) green or blue hose with accent self-tie garters.
I think it would be smashing.

I’ve heard the adage about ancient tartans being casual and modern tartans being formal. Don’t believe it for a second!
Tartan is tartan. Any shade of any tartan is appropriate for wear on ANY occasion, from stumping through the forest to formalwear! With highlandwear, the other accessories is what determines your level of formality, not the shades themselves!
Indeed, this is what I love about highlandwear in the first place—men are granted access to colors! This is a concept that is nearly unknown in Western wear, where navy, grey, and black reign supreme.
I wear my ancient toned kilt and hose with my formalwear and bow tie, and find the combination smashing. I encourage you to do the same.

I love the palette of the muted Gunn tartan and think all the hose you've shown would work just fine. My go to hose colour however would be Claret. As for an Argyll jacket a Lovat Green or Blue would work just fine but I would most likely wear my Brown Argyll with this tartan.

I think it’s better that it doesn’t match exactly. You don’t want it all to just blend together. Not matching will make the tartan stand out more.
I’m coming to prefer muted shades over the ubiquitous ancient. Even my Macdonald modern pv kilt, which I felt was just too dark when I got it, has grown on me quite a bit. My first tank will probably be Macdonald muted or Macdonald of glengarry modern.

As the what to wear with it, your clan chief looks well turned out. Dark green accessories compliment the lighter green of the kilt so the outfit isn’t just a blob of the same green. I don’t think he looks like a leprechaun at all
And I’d wear any of the hose you have with it. I think they all look fine. And the chiefs blue shirt and green tie look quite sharp with it too.

I like the tartan, I’d pick up the red stripe there’s also the black square...that’s being conservative.... other guys will be more creative enjoy your kilt!
I'm not lost, I just don't know where I am

I say burgundy hose, pastel blue (even small checkered shirt) dark blue waistcoat or sleeveless sweater would work well for casual wear. Don't knock the tartan if you have ties to the clan (but you can complain about the family when non family members want to).
