It is an Ulster Unionist anthem. The Irish Guards are one of very few bands who would play it alongside The Wearing of the Green - they try to honour all traditions in Ireland.

The music for the tune, in case your friend is tempted to play it, can be found in the Royal Irish Rangers Collection. now, sadly, long out of print, and in the Brigade Book of Irish Pipe Music, available free on ceolsean.net.

Thanks so much. He said he found the music, and will play it to himself in the house.

You guys have all been pretty darned helpful. Thanks!

Thank you to Father Bill and to all who have responded to this posting. I picked the music from the Brigade Irish site and have been through a couple of dozen times on the chanter and at least once on the pipes. As mentioned Widows closed , door locked it's really too good to let out, a wonderful sounding tune..

I think you put that very well. No rules broken.
