    Tearing Polyviscose To Width

I purchased two different fabrics which I'm going to be making kilts from. The first is 16 oz wool from House of Edgar. That's going to be my "good" kilt. The other is some relatively lightweight PV which is going to be my "trial" kilt. I wanted to work first on less expensive material and hopefully make most of my mistakes there.

I purchased 4 yards of 60" PV fabric. Should I attempt to rip the PV or simply cut it when I split the fabric and then later set the length of the kilt?

I’ve used PV, and just cut it. I don’t think it would rip, like wool twill.

Thanks, that was my thought, but read elsewhere that it was "harder to rip". I wasn't sure whether "harder" meant more force required or less likely to succeed without damaging the fabric.

    Cut it shall be then.

As other have said you have to cut it. I don't even rip wool anymore. I have an old drafting table with a large cutting board. I use a rotary cutter. I also have a good shears that are only used on fabric. Either one works fine.
