    Inauguration of The Buchanan

The inauguration of the new chief of the Clan Buchanan will take place on 8 October, 2022 in Callander Scotland.
John Michael Baillie-Hamilton Buchanan will be the first Chief of the Name and Arms of Buchanan in over 300 years.
Attending will be the Lord Lyon Dr. Joseph Morrow and ten current sitting Scottish chiefs.

I thought the group might be interested in the dress code sent out to attendees of the four day event.

The two surprising things for me are:
    • The use of the term "semi-formal"
    • The specificty to the ladie's sashes.

I'd bet that the term "casual" doesn't mean what us Americans would take to be "casual." In California, that means jeans or shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops.

Agreed. It's either formal, or It's not.

From reading their definitions, it would appear that they are saying the Prince Charlie would be "formal" or at least "more formal" than encouraged for this event. Whereas a dark Argyle and black Black Barathea five button waistcoat is just "formal enough".

I'll be giving a lecture on the Saturday and will grab some pictures. This will be my Day Dress (Striped of Check Shirt; Regimental Tie; and Brass Cantled Sporran) :-).

It was a good day and nice to see a number of the other chiefs there: some I know; some I haven't seen in 30 years, and some I'd never met.

I have to say, someone needs to take the new chief aside and offer some guidance on his dress.
