This is a "doozy" a modern set of pipes being claimed to be 1930s Hendersons

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/33567854560...ndition=4%7C10

That sort of imitation ivory has been used by Dunbar (Canada) for many years, and McCallum (Scotland) switched to it around a decade ago.

I don't know if any other pipemakers have switched to it. What's nice is that it's very durable.

Yes I know that people have pipes "restored" (a very misleading term, "transformed" or "mutilated" would be more accurate) but this looks 100% like a new set of pipes.

    Any idea as to maker?

Yikes. My guess is they're seeing Henderson on the chanter and making an assumption about the pipes. The chanter, though, is a Peter Henderson model from RG Hardie.

I'd say the pipes are likely a recent set of Hardies, their RGH02, probably. Those start around $1300 new, so the asking price is unreasonable, to say the least.

This is outrageous, a horrid cheap set of Pakistani pipes being claimed to have been made by RT Shepherd & Son, in Scotland.

I've messaged the seller telling him so, and I'm sure I won't be the only one.

I just messaged the seller as well. Hopefully no one gets duped into buying them.

Just got a reply from the seller about the Pakistani pipes above being sold as Shepherd:

Apparently there are some honest people out there after all.

To say that these pipes are unusual-looking is to be kind.

A "one-off made by a retired Pipe Major".

Derek Marr pipes, very low now but let's see how high they go

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/31618756409...ndition=4%7C10

Very nice old Lawrie pipes, but with a replacement Bass bottom section, and rather overpriced

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/22659041908...ndition=4%7C10

These Lawrie pipes are significantly underpriced, yet they've been on Ebay for a while and there's been no interest.

I'm pretty sure that these will outperform most pipes being made today, for a third of the price. For a while I played a Lawrie set much like this one, the harmonics were very good, and the volume was quite enough for Pipe Band work.

The seller assures us that the pipes "are in very condition". Very what? From the photos they look to be fairly pristine for a 60 year old set.
