    Sorry Ham,

I've a bit of English blood too...didn't realize the word was so "nasty" over there...

It's pretty rude... suggests that one's love life is dominated by a relationship with Mr Hand.

Those of us on this side of the "pond" have to learn that a good chunk of our vernacular can be constued as offensive in the United Kingdom. Same thing comming over here. It's just another opportunity for us to learn.

    Apology accepted, Ron. Thank you

I suppose it is not so much "nasty" as language of the gutter, and I feel that "X Marks the Scot" is worthy of greater consideration and respect.

Anyway: it's over and done with now, as far as I am concerned. Thanks again.

Hey Galant, how you doing? Im new here, but I do know that Spain (if thats the spanish heritage you re talking about) has a few district tartans, and I add that they are pretty nice. Check www.district-tartans.com they got them there. Hope I was helpful.

    Dear Lord!?!?

I don't know, my folks church didn't seem to like my kilt last weekend. We'll give 'em another shot or two, though.
Keep at it! I find church people like any others, some love the kilt, others will think you have a 'spiritual problem that needs counselling'

I've visited several churches kilted besides my own with confidence and 'blessed assurance'.

my big test will come in Denver at a big church convention...I'll be kilted of course! (help me Glen!!)

Ron, as one who is 75% English I take exception to your use of THAT word! It was coined, either in this forum or in another, very recently and resulted, quite rightly, in a number of complaints.

Whatever your opinion of the English might be, I respectfully suggest that there are plenty of other, less offensive, words you might have chosen to use.
    thank you Hamish...

The tartan ban, terrible and unjust as it was, finished many years ago, time to forgive the English and encourage them to embrace kilts as several Englishmen on this site have done.

I just shake my head when I've heard folks try to tell me that it was heretical to wear a kilt. Mostly hard line evangelicals and Mormons. I also know hard line evangelicals that love their own kilts, not many mormons who like them though.

On a side note, I'll be visiting a small town in Utah in the summer, should be an interesting time because I have no intention of packing pants.

Sorry to get off topic, where can I see the clergy tartan? Is it associated with any particular church?

I'm a lay preacher so I guess I could wear it

I think Hamish is insinuating that we should use our wagon manners here.

Not a bad idea. Not easy mind you, just not a bad idea.
