About 3-4 weeks ago I started listening to Mudmen, wow really like these guys. Kind of an 80s sounding rock, but replace the lead guitar with dual bagpipes. Been putting some heavy wear on their 2 CDs in the scant time I've had them. Just missed their show in B.C., wished I'd looked into them a week or two earlier, would've drove up north and caught a show.
Flogging Molly - Swagger (My latest purchase, good kickin about music)
Great Big Sea - Up (Haven't decided yet....jury is still out)
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies (Fantastic stuff)
Flogging Molly - Within a Mile of Home
Wicked Tinkers - Hammered (Have to have the Tinkers)
Dropkick Murphy's - Blackout (I'm not too crazy about these guys but the track Kiss Me I'm $&!tfaced is grand!)
Ashley McIssac - Hi How Are You Doing Today
Damian Dempsey - Seize The Day (1st CD of his that I've heard...not the best but I have high hopes for his next album)
Clann Zu - Rua (Just heard of these guys...very interesting stuff)
Damian Rice - O
I don't know how celtic you'd call some of this stuff...all have there good points and their bad.
I've edited my original post to include an integrated list of all the groups listed so far. If the thread remains active, I'll return from time to time and add to the list as new groups are mentioned.
Since I posted my list I have had the chance to see
Enter the Haggis live. All I can really say is Wow
They have such an energy that is difficult for a
recording to capture it.
If you like you Celtic music with a little rock in it, you will
love Enter the Haggis.
Nelson
"Every man dies. Not every man really lives"
Braveheart
We missed a few
The Dubliners (how were they left off????)
The Levellers (pogue-ish)
The Elders - Any in the midwest area knows how good these are
Celtic Soul - Small band I found downloads for on amazon for free
I went throught the lists a couple of times and don't believe I saw Silly Wizard. I love Silly Wizard and have a lot of their CDs. Another I didn't see here is Bonnie Rideout; in my opinion one of the greatest Scottish fiddle players alive! I have a few of her CDs and have been to a concert. Fantastic!!
