Original post:
I was a little surprised to see a thread basically crucifying 7N for not being Celtic enough. At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I've got to say, I like 7N. I've got pretty much everything that's available, and yes, they've moved from their roots, but they're speaking to a different crowd now, and some of that crowd is going to go looking for more.
It was looking for more artists like 7N and Young Dubs, that got me looking at the celtic and related genres in general; now I have added to my collection:
The American Wake
Ashley MacIssac
Bad Haggis (although I didn't like the last one much)
Barleyjuice (got both in the mail today, good stuff!!)
Big Country
Blackmore's Night
Brigid's Cross
Brother
Caliban
Clannad
Gaelic Storm
Great Big Sea
John McLean Allan
Kirk McLeod
Mike Scott
Niel Anderson
The Paperboys
Peatbog Faeries
The Pogues
The Proclaimers
The Prodigals
Puddle Jumpers
Sally's gap
Sarah McLachlan
The Saw Doctors
Seven Nations
Solas
Tempest
The Waterboys
Wolfstone
The Young Dubliners
So, what's on your shelf?
...or, what should I add that I've missed?

I'm probably a bit older than you (60s) but I have a mixture which includes "Barleyjuice", "Wicked Tinkers", "Tommy Sands", "Charlie Zahm", and even one "Limeliters" Cd. I've also got a couple of generic Bagpipes Cds. I love to drive around town with those playing and the windows down.

Off the top of my head, I have most of the ones you have plus these:
The Old Blind Dogs
The Chieftains
The Glengarry Bhoys
RATHKELTAIR (Neil Anderson’s New band)
Enter The Haggis
Clann An Drumma
Danu`
Dougie MacLean
Natalie MacMasters
The Battlefield Band
You will not get shot about 7N.
It's just for many of us,
7N was what got us interested in Celtic Music.
Several members left and a bunch of BS started.
They became much more main stream and less Celtic.
Neil Anderson's piping was one of the best parts of
7N. I have followed 7N Since the beginning and
It just seems as if have lost their edge.
If you like early 7N you will love Rathketair.

I prefer old recordings from the 30-50's, of real "folk" playing the tunes...can be raw but its always interesting.....

Ok, I've got to add another. I just got back (it's 2:02 am) from an evening (kilted, got some high fives) at Gallaghers in Huntington Beach, Ca., ...saw The American Wake. These guys rock!!! I got two of their CDs, a studio recording and a live recording, I'll check them out tomorrow, after I wake up.

Sorry that I can't list them all, as carpal-tunnel syndrome will set-in! I get freebies from recording studios, websites, friends and labels. They're just too numerous to mention.
The Celtic music has SO MANY different off-shoots that it appeals to many different tastes. There's the "folk Celtic" like the Chieftains, "Celtic punk", "traditional" like Natalie McMaster, "neo-Celtic" like Eileen Ivers, etc. etc. etc.
Seven Nations sits in a little niche for those that prefer "Pop" music with a bit of a Celtic flair. No problem with that. They found a target audience and they're playing to that.
The natural flow of a band and the members' personalities will INADVERTANTLY take the music in a direction that NO ONE could imagine sometimes.
