Ah! So those are Wingtips! I've asked previously and been told what they were but I could not visualise them accurately - Wingtips is not a name we use here in the United Kingdom.
Yes, those are black brogue shoes, Robin, and I always wear them when formally dressed, and sometimes when not so formally dressed! I am one of those who loathes the ghastly ghillie brogues and, in almost sixty years of kilt wearing at all levels of formality I have never felt obliged to try them. There is nothing 'traditional' about them since they are an invention of the Victorian age.
