Gunn, definitely. And you can join the UK Clan Gunn Society, & then join the Yahoo group & be the first Welsh member!

Gosh, our North Texas Commish is right, everybody is a Gunn, but not everyone knows it!

Gunn Ancient is also extremely close to the MacKay ancient and several others. I read once in a very old kilt book (from the '50s) that it was hypothesized that when the Clans tried to figure out what their actual tartans were during the reign of Queen Victoria that that many of the clans from our neck of the woods near the Northern Coast all provided modifications of a common plaid to be found all over the region that was commonly thought to be a very old district tartan but no one knew for sure.

Makes an interesting story and it does explain why clans that were neighbors and often at each other's throats (such as the Gunns and MacKays) have startlingly similar tartans.

Trust me, we've made every Gunn pun there is. If you can think of a new one, we might make you an honorary member. ;-)

I like the Macneil, but I'm predjuced. My family is a Macneil sept.

Being of no relation to either - as far as I know - I think I like the Gunn Ancient better, though I like them both. There are many tartans with a yellow stripe, and I think the Gunn would be an excellent contrast to your bolder welsh tartan cilt. The one with the yellow base anyway, I'm not sure what tartan your second cilt/kilt is.

Anyway, that's my reasoning, it's a little more subdued.
