Both tartans are wonderful... either one would be amazing pleated to the stripe. (Hint)

I have made a decision and have decided to go with the Ancient Gunn. As I said earlier, as soon as money allows, I shall be ordering one. Thanks for all your opinions.

A mighty fine choice Derek. Cannot wait to see the pictures of you in it!

    Derek,

Congratulations on making the right choice!

My oldest kilt (tailored for me in 1973 by Alex Scott of Aberdeen) is in Gunn Ancient Colours. It is as good now as the day it was made and I'll wear it next time we meet up. By the way, the colours in the two tartans you showed us are really way off being accurate! I know, of course, that monitor screens display these things slightly differently but the colour renditions on mine are fairly good. Also there are likely to be very slight colour differences from one mill to the next, but the colours in my kilt are, and always have been, very much more subtle that the Gunn AC you illustrate. Here's a close-up of my kilt taken earlier this year:

Yes it's 32 years old, and was my only kilt for 27 of those, so it has had a fairly tough time of it - yet it still looks good (somewhat like its owner really!!;))

Just had another thought , get both. Have one now and put the other on order for the future.
