Did you email or phone them and ask or are you just going by what's illustrated on the website? Seems that Rocky can be very resourceful...

Just pick a tartan you like. There are no rules which require you to wear a particular tartan. Rocky doesn't have "my" tartan either, so I am getting a kilt in Black Stewart from him.

That being said, as long as you choose a quality kiltmaker, you will be able to wear it for more than just a few hours at a wedding. If you decide to spring for a "tank", it can be worn every day and still outlast you.

we are lookin for kilts in the forbes tartan. as far as calling up USAK, the ol'lady did that so i am going off what she said. which was that in order to get that tartan we would have to go from a casual kilt up to a premier kilt. yes pourmoremalt we have looked at renting, most of the rentals come in the more of the more comonly used tartans...so i guess if th cost of the desire to wear a kilt is the driveing force,, maybe i need to make a few concesions..

    Oneride,

Rocky can make you a wool 5-yard kilt in the Forbes tartan for about $350, which is about as inexpensive as you are going to get in that tartan.

One alternative is for the groom to wear a wool 5-yard kilt in the family tartan and have the groomsmen wear rented kilts. Kilts for rent only come in a few common tartans, as you stated. You could coordinate the colors of the rental kilts with the colors in the Forbes tartan. Forbes is mainly green and blue, which is a very common color scheme. The Black Watch tartan, a very common tartan, is similar in color and appearance.

Another alternative is to have Rocky make a Semi-Traditional kilt in a tartan similar to the Forbes tartan for each male member of the wedding party. A Semi-Traditional costs about $220 and is made of poly-viscose (PV). PV is machine washable and a good alternative to wool.

Welcome and congratulations. Kilts for the wedding are a great choice.

Another suggestion: buy the kilts and hire the jackets. It would save you about $200 per person. The kilt is the main piece and one you and the groomsmen can wear and enjoy after the wedding . . . casually with many different shirts, t-shirts, jackets etc.

Also, on the jackets you might want to check out a recent thread on eton jackets. It looks a good reasonable alternative to a barathea wool traditional jacket.

Welcome! As you have found, all one needs here is to ask. Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding.
