When I'm not wearing a kilt with pockets, I use a vest with pockets, or a sporran.
One of the benefits of kilts is not messing my back muscles up by sitting on my thick wallet all day like I did when panted.
Only suggestion, if you're gonna go with an inexpensive kilt be sure and look at the USA casuals too.
But, you sound like one of those guys who'll soon be wearing a hand sewn traditional wool kilt.
