In laws can be interesting. two of my wifes brothers are planning to come visit in July and they have no clue about my kilt wearing. Being the "good ol boy" types they are, this should be pretty funny. My wife hasn't tipped em off, she's looking forward to seeing their minds blow as much as I am.

    Welcome both!

I've been kilted for three years now, and I still ocassionally try to put my hands in my pockets. I compromise by resting my hands on top of my sporran in my SWK.

    Cheers,
    Nick

I just hook my thumbs in my belt. I'm completely out of the habit of hunting for pockets.

Well, they're acceptable for women to wear.
    -Was it always so?
No, I had to wear dresses in high school.
-When you could wear p***s, were you happy?
Yes, I like them, more comfortable.
-Kilts are more comfortable, too, and if a few brave women had not started wearing p***s, you would still be in a dress today.

OK, sorry to vent, but had to do it somewhere!
Man, I could hear my Mother-in-Laws voice when I read that!

How polictically incorrect is that?? and I have to say you are not alone....here too. Beer in one hand, cigarette in the other and a wee dram on the bar. All in moderation you understand...

Back on topic: I still try to put my hands in my pockets. I guess we could all walk around with our hands in our sporrans....or not .

He said 'No, you gotta buy in to the whole kilt thing. No posers.' I said fine, and figured I'd buy one and return it Monday and get my money back. Even though my family was Scottish and my uncle wore a kilt when playing his pipes, I'd never thought of wearing a kilt. I thought they were silly.

So I wore it for the day, and it was incredibly comfortable. That night there was a party at Utilikilts that I went to. The next night I met a bunch of friends at a bar for a party in memory of a close friend who'd died a few months previous. The bartender couldn't keep her fingers off it, and a couple other girls kept reaching under it. I was married at the time, so I couldn't do anything, but I certainly had opportunity...

The next day was a Monday and I wore it to work. My guys gave me a little crap, but my customers thought it was cool (I had a boat business at the time). That night I went home and threw my pants in the dumpster and told my wife, 'I'm never wearing pants again!'

She left me two weeks later. It was for the best.

[by the way- I work at Utilikilts. I run the factory, and I don't have ANYTHING to do with UK's politics or customer relations. I just make kilts, and I love it. I'm here because I heard about you guys after the gun thing and I'm a dedicated kilt wearing, full-blooded Scot who's overly proud of it. Cheers.]

It's good to have another Craig on board!!!
