Wow, other kilted SF/fantasy junkies! I've been reading and illustrating (and dabbling in writing) the genre most of my life, and the collection of books threatens to outgrow the available space constantly. I try to read at least two or three novels per week (amazing how much one can read during lone lunches and such). As long as this is the topic, here's a sample of my SF art:

There are a number of others on the site; just hit the "Back to Gallery" button for thumbnails, or use the "Back" or "Next" buttons.

Anyway, Zardoz was played by Sean Connery and he regularly wears a kilt; so is that kilted justification enough for the thread so far?

Zardoz, we should compare lists (and anyone else for that matter) to see if either of us is missing any of his works. Of course, that would lead to a stampede to find those missing items! For anybody that is interested, here is a link to a pretty authoritative, and illustrated with book covers, list of Heinlein's works. I have been using it in my search for books, or even stroies, missing from my collection.
Switchblade, it depends on what you are looking for. What have you read already and did you like it?
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

I don't read that much science fiction anymore, Heinlein is always good, Herbert had some grgeat stuff, Jack Williamson's early work is a treat, THe Lensmans novels, a lot of that pulpy stuff I really dig.
Switchblade, I haven't played Battletech in years, second edition days, Still have my miniature's somewhere, I had aone hell of a mercenary regiment for the time

It is listed in the long description on the page, in the quick list of his novels at the top it is not (and was the only one off the top of my head that wasn't)

that list is good but not 100% up to date, 'Methusala's Children' is part of 'The Past Through Tomorrow" BTW.
There is a great collection of RAH stories I'd recommend for readers new to the Grand Master's work called "Off the Main Sequence" it also has some lesser known stories that fans may have missed. If you are a dedicated fan you should read "Requiem", "Grumbles from the Grave" and the non-fiction work "Tramp Royal" about world travel in the 50's.
If I had to recommend some RAH books to the uninitiated from memory, I would say;
The Puppet Masters
Children of the Sky
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
Starship Troopers
Stranger in a Strange Land
Farnhams Freehold
Time Enough for Love
Zardoz, Not a browncoat!
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.
