    Zardoz, we should compare lists (and anyone else for that matter) to see if either of us is missing any of his works. Of course, that would lead to a stampede to find those missing items! For anybody that is interested, here is a link to a pretty authoritative, and illustrated with book covers, list of Heinlein's works. I have been using it in my search for books, or even stroies, missing from my collection.

    Switchblade, it depends on what you are looking for. What have you read already and did you like it?

    I don't read that much science fiction anymore, Heinlein is always good, Herbert had some grgeat stuff, Jack Williamson's early work is a treat, THe Lensmans novels, a lot of that pulpy stuff I really dig.

    Switchblade, I haven't played Battletech in years, second edition days, Still have my miniature's somewhere, I had aone hell of a mercenary regiment for the time

    that list is good but not 100% up to date, 'Methusala's Children' is part of 'The Past Through Tomorrow" BTW.

    There is a great collection of RAH stories I'd recommend for readers new to the Grand Master's work called "Off the Main Sequence" it also has some lesser known stories that fans may have missed. If you are a dedicated fan you should read "Requiem", "Grumbles from the Grave" and the non-fiction work "Tramp Royal" about world travel in the 50's.

    If I had to recommend some RAH books to the uninitiated from memory, I would say;
    The Puppet Masters
    Children of the Sky
    The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
    Starship Troopers
    Stranger in a Strange Land
    Farnhams Freehold
    Time Enough for Love

    I see River (we call her Lyn) shopping in Rice Village here in Houston sometimes! (you see, she's between jobs, that show was cancelled, but she may be on The 4400 this year) she is lovely, but a mere slip of a girl, Any of the Farscape babes could take her in a standup fight! :rolleyes:

    It is listed in the long description on the page, in the quick list of his novels at the top it is not (and was the only one off the top of my head that wasn't)

    For clarification on Methuselah's Children in the link I provided, the short list at the top of the page is a list of the collections of stories and the novels you would have to read to read everything by Heinlein, short stories and novels. Since Methuselah's Children is included in Revolt in 2100 and The Past through Tomorrow, it is not specifically mentioned in that list at the top.

    I had not looked at that site in a while. It looks like it is current through 1999, but I know that For Us the Living was completed (forget who did the final writing or if it is the original manuscript) and released, sometime in 2004 or 2005. It was a good read and definitely still a Heinlein work.

    Zardoz, I had not heard of Off the Main Sequence. Looks like it contains stories that can be found in other colections, just a different collection of his works. Looks like a good cross section, though.

    You mentioned Children of the Sky as a Heinlein novel to read, but I don't remember any novel with that title. Did you mean Orphans of the Sky?
