Brush and steam
Prior to dry cleaning, the traditionnal way of cleaning wool suits was called brush and steam. First, you brush the suit (or the kilt) with a suit brush, to remove most ot the dirt. Second, you expose it to steam (hanged in a closed bathroom with hot water in the tub) to remove bad odours and to eliminate creases.
