Ordered my first non-tartan kilt
I've spent almost 3 months vacillating about which non-tartan kilt to buy. I've gone from UK to AK to FK and everything else about 100 times. However, I really like the army green canvas kilt that is shown on the Canadian Casual Kilts main webpage. I sent Pete about 5 e-mails with all sorts of questions and he was more than willing to do whatever I wanted. After getting a small bonus at work (who new you could get a bonus working for the federal government?) I finally put the order in on Sunday. If anyone else is thinking about ordering from CCK, I will say that they have great customer service and are extremely flexible. Now I've got a couple months to wait; it's only been 1 day and I think I'm going to pass out from excitement.
There's no way I could ever be that picky about a pair of shorts or jeans, let alone have a chance to talk to the person who was going to make them for me. This kilt thing is quite a different world and I like it.

Congratulations!
So, whenever we see you in that kilt, we can say "Our tax dollars at work!" Might as well go toward promoting kilts. Yay!

If it is the kilt on the title page it looks rather good.
I was a little doubtfull about using all cotton at first - but having done a couple I now have a sack full of cotton strips waiting to be pleated up - next to the sack full of wool mixtures likewise waiting my attention.
The kilts I have managed to complete have been life savers in the present heatwave, being cool and absorbant and no problem throwing them into the washer each evening.
However - they also seem to do surprisingly well in the cool of the night, and the occasional thunderstorm, as the cotton stiffens when wet and creates a 'lampshade' effect far more comfortable than rain soaked trousers.
May you (eventually) wear yours in good health.

Hey I work for the Army, so I know you can get awards. So tell me, did you leap a tall building in a single bound or walk on water?
That reminds me, I've got a cash award coming. I wonder what kilt accessories I should use it on. Maybe I should go ahead and order that Argyle jacket?

Awesome. I just bought my first non-tartan at the Flagstaff games. An olive canvas (from Buzz Kidder though.)

A lot of great Kiltmakers out there, which really makes it tough to decide which Kilt to get.
CONGRATULATIONS on your non tartan Kilt.

Congratulations. I think you will find the canvas kilt very durable. I have 3 Buzz Kidders in 10 oz army duck - they wear like iron. Don't be surprised though if you get a little creasing/wrinkling in the pleats - 100% cotton will tend to do that.

Let's just say I've been putting on a good juggling act for a while (but I'm starting to drop the pins).
Thanks for the input about canvas kilts. I'll drop some photos when it comes in. I've got my casual USAkilt that came in yesterday to calm me down for a while.

Good choice Cinnabar. While I don't have one of Pete's kilts, I have dealt with him on a sale and exchanged a few emails with him regarding a kilt for my son (I'll order soon Pete, I promise). He seems like a great guy and I am sure the customer service from CCK would reflect that.
