I am very sorry to hear of this incident but I have to speak as I find (found!). My Saltire tartan kilt came from The Scottish Store in Edinburgh and it was fine. The delivery schedule was spot on. At the same time, I ordered a fancy, decorative chain for my dress sporran which came, as expected, with the kilt. The quality is excellent.
By the way, your links to www.scottishstore.com are not working for me. The Scottish Store I am talking about is now to be found at www.scottishgroom.com although I do not remember that being the address I used previously!
Are we all talking of the same The Scottish Store?

the websites show them being the same physical store and contact info, although the sites are a little different.

Yeah, I would have been interested (well in the future though) in the Saltire 'tartan' kilt and won't be now.

Hi Andy, Ogenki des ka?
The Saltire Tartan kilt is certainly not exclusive to The Scottish Store - many Highland Outfitters retail it, but I believe it is tailored by only one kiltmaker/weaver! I went to The Scottish Store for it only because of their price which was considerably better than any other I had seen in my searches!

While I agree with you, perhaps for some folks the lesser price makes a full 'tank' fall into their price range, that must be a huge temptation.
I didn't really notice a big price difference because of it though but I did find my maker quite quickly.
