Now that they have been blackballed here, I wonder how much impact we really have on them? I wonder how long it will be before they either close up or come here begging forgiveness....

    Impact? You're surely joking, right?

Do you have any idea of how many tourists walked the streets of Edinburgh today, alone? Have you passed by any of these shops to see the numbers of people that are lining up to spend their cash? By mid-morning on a busy day, a lot of these shops have people waiting to get inside. I seriously doubt that you could find a fraction of these tourists that have ever heard of this forum.

I wouldn't be holding my breath for either of your mentioned eventualities to come about.

for some reason I missed the part where they were IN Edinburgh. That negates anything I previously mentioned.

Sure is. At least all of us are safe.

Almost tempted to pop past in December when I am back home and see what this place is all about.

    Exactly.

It's always good to keep forum members aware of the good and the bad vendors, but I'm sure this place won't miss the money any of us might have spent with them.

Yes, KT, I am afraid they are in a prime position, just two or three hundred yards down from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, at the top of The Royal Mile - right opposite the old church now known as The Hub.

wow...even the worst vendor in known history can have a very successful shop with such a prime location!!!

the good thing is, the more people provide negative or positive reviews here about various vendors, the more people surfing for scottish clothing and accessories will stumble upon us via Google or some other web search engine BEFORE buying from them online!

Just think how much more successful they would be if they appreciated their customers enough to treat them with the courtesy and respect they deserve.

Regardless of the economic impact this post (or any others) may have on their business, at least we will have the impact of saving all of our friends and family the anguish of dealing with someone like that.

Thank you for the information. Count me in on the Blackball.

Hamish. You seem to have 3 or more conflicting posts about us across the years. In one, you say you bought the kilt from us and have praised the kilt, shipping time and customer service. Another one, you make false claims that we are a run-down shop that you have seen many years ago ..untrue based on the day we had re-located to this Edinburgh location from Livingston Village....it could not be possible that we are the same place you are thinking of. In another post, you claim you know our store and that it is so tacky that we could not get you to enter the shop and in another post, you said that you have been to our store many times.

I think you should be a bit more fair when posting and think about the businesses that you are carelessly writing about. I am sure in your day when you had your business people didnt drop into a website and basically bash your company and try to comment on your services offerd or products or discuss how they are made.

Yes, it helps all to understand what they are buying and I for one, make it a point to tell everyone how our kilts are made and the quality compared to "you know who" but to post anything....most people only bother to find the negative side of things. Opinions is one thing...but this site is almost abusive to all retailors from what I have read so far. I have seen Hamish and others bash the salespersons working at Geoffrey Tailor and other posts by Hamish praising the shop. I have read posts from different people making all kinds of un-confirmed comments, opinions and comments about kilt retailors sites that allows people...anyone to just come in and bash businesses. 95% of the comments on here are all complaints and comments that do no one any good. I have read posts here about petty nonsense, unproven complaints, one saying something good and forgetting they did and jump on the band wagon and add bad comments about more then 75% of the kiltmakers and retailors out there. It seems that even the most respected shops names are on here with negative comments. And if you have a website....the chances of someone wanting to say something good about it is nil.

And in the end....the most sad thing is to see that there are retailors paying for advertising space or offering discounts to those that buy after visiting this forum! Surely you can see how this looks to the kilt industry. I am aware that the general public drops in here to make comments so I will do my best to note the names of the shops to let them know that there are adverts and discounts for a few retailers whose names and banners sit above all the bashing comments about those shops who do not pay to advertise here or do not offer discounts exclusive to those that read the kilt industry bashing.
    Cheers.
