You just can't get much more "Irish American" than that.

My wife made the same comment... not to mention that the orange piping on the jersey went WONDERFULLY well with the orange stripes in the kilt!

Much fun was had. And, flame me if you will, I finally found a way I can tolerate Guiness! The pub makes what they call a "Black Velvet." They float Guiness on my favorite cider (that would be the Strongbow)... it's actually pretty good.

After seeing Germans drink "cola beer" (exactly what it sounds like: cola + pilsner beer) and "banana-weisen" (banana pulp + heffewesien) nothing seems odd to me!

That's not a new drink at all. Just about every Irish pub will serve what's known as a "black and tan"...Guinness and any light lager. The Black Velvet is just a newer variation.
The thing with those drinks is.....as you become accustomed to the taste...gradually ask for less and less mix....sooner than you know it, you'll be able to drink the Guinness by itself. Next time you have one.....have a drink for me too. yummy!
cheers,
