Thanksgiving in Hopiland
Rather than drive into the city and fight the crowd, my lady and I ambled around the Hopi reservation today...mostly stopping at the artisan's shops with me drooling at potential kilt pins with Hopi themes.
At the end of the day we went up on Antelope Mesa. She took this pic of me in my USA Kilts Scotish National tartan casual model.
Check out the flower blossoming from a crack in the cliff, a testimate to survival. We didn't notice the flower until she downloaded the pics.
Was near dark so the tartan doesn't show well. Sweater was a bargain from England via Sierra Trading Company. And of course, Z Coil shoes.

I love the sweater! But, I must admit: I'd be a little nervous in the spring-thingy shoes that close to a cliff

Weird, my big thing was that Z Coils with a kilt would be too much. I did have the same fear hiking in Z Coils initially but have found in the field that they actually give you a second chance. When I start to slip, if I'd been in regular boots or shoes I'd probably twist an ankle. Them Z Coils actually slow down the slip and give me time to recover - a second chance. But, around here, you're wise to be leary of sandstone - aka "Slick Rock."
Cliffside hiking in a kilt probably does have one disadvantage...if you slip the kilt flys up and obscures your last scenic view of Earth as you fall to your death.

P1M,
The "snaw" is in the mail for sure...its 6,000 feet plus on Hopi...not always a good thing when it comes. Pretty though.
