Ireland?

I had no problems being kilted for three months in Ireland. I found that the response is similar to that in Boston: they ask if you're Scottish, they ask if there's anything on underneath, and the women love it. The only difference is that in Boston I often get asked if I'm Irish; the Irish know better.

As an Irish guy living in Ireland, I have no problems wearing my kilt in Ireland, but mostly at parties and other events. I don't war it every day.

It has begun to catch on here at weddings, new year celebrations, and rugby matches, but has a long way to go compared to the Scots!

I spent two and a half weeks traveling in Ireland at Christmas time a couple of years back, about half of the time in Dublin. I wore my kilts the whole time and had no major problems. I confused some people and amused others but most just acted as if it were an everyday thing. I'm ready to go back. If you leave all the trousers behind maybe there'll be enough space for me to hide in your luggage? Have fun, it's a grand place.
