I have a Buzz Kidder sporran and it's beefy, but it's kind of small at the top-loading end and stuff tends to sort of disappear into it. It' shard to get my hands in there to sort stuff out.
Still, it was a good buy.

It's a good idea to carry a "poke" or a small sack inside your sporran to hold small items. I use a small Crown Royal bag.

I agree with Tatoo. The Nighstalker just seems too "fanny pack" to me.

For daywear I use one of two sporrans that I got from The Scotland Yard www.scotyard.com and they have held up for years. They were and still are $40.00 & $45.00. They are very sturdy and have taken a real beating at times. Might be worth looking into.

As it is to be worn with an ARGYLE jacket (rather than T-shirt and bomber-style), I'd STRONGLY recommend a Buzz Kidder!!!
I have 2 now, and I'm on a fairly tight budget (why I make most of my own stuff-> can't afford to buy it. YET, hard to MATERIAL (for one-off) to make one that cheap, especially with the quality look, feel, and design of Buzz's work. I bought one, LOVED IT, and bought a second (in a different style)
HOW does he make it SO cheap?

Rethinking the whole thing...
I appreciate all the input on the sporran question. The best deal I can get is about $25.00 for an 'economy' sporran (including shipping). After checking out all the options, I now have my heart set on a nice black Rob Roy sporran. I guess I will have to check the couch cushions for change (maybe take back my empties!) and spend the extra to get the right one the first time.
Thanks all!

A big selling point for the Buzz Kidder sporrans is that they are made from soft leather. Too many of the really cheap sporrans are made from a stiff leather and you're lucky to get a wallet in them and not much else. That's not so bad for a formal sporran when you're not carrying much anyway, but about useless for a day sporran. I have a Country Sporran, and it is my most used sporran. The Rob Roy is also a great sporran. They are roughly the same size, the only real difference is the design.
Of course, when you get the funds, you'll want to get yourself a Freelander sporran. They are made from soft leather and expand to hold a lot.

I don't know if Buzz lurks on this forum or not, but I wish BK made a sporran that is a cross between the Rob Roy and the Celtic Knot sporrans so you could get a simple, non-ribbed sporran without the pewter medallion on the flap. I emailed them to see if this was an option before I bought my brown one but never heard back from them, so I expect that customization is not an option. I do think it would sell like crazy though.
This would allow the customer to have a "blank slate" to customize the sporran to his preference or have a nice looking functional sporran as is.
