You're right, they are closer, I thought I would have to drive all the way to SE Missouri to participate in them.

SE MO would be closer to GA than SouthWEST Missouri, where I am!

You seem an expert. Any advice on pronunciation guides to Burn's "Address of the Haggis"?

Panache,
I learned the Address from a good friend of mine, Christopher Tait:
http://www.robertburnslive.co.uk/
His DVD is well worth the price of admission and does help with the pronunciation, since Chris is "the genuine article".
There are pronunciation guides around on the Internet, of course, but Chris's DVD is a good way to actually see the Address and hear it being done correctly.
I believe you can order them in the States.
Yours in Burns,
Todd

I just ordered a copy of the dvd myself. I am really looking forward to im proving my imitation Scottish brogue.
When I used to travel to Scotland, my friends advised that it wasn't too bad, but I always suspected they were being nice.

Well, you guys/gals will have to enjoy this one without me, and I was looking forward to this outing! The 20th was perfect, but I have a conflict on the 27th. Have a great time, and if I can sneak by I will.

I really hate that the date messed you up. If you can possibly sneak be, do so. There'll be enough scotch and other libations to go 'round.
Or better yet, tell your boss/mother-in-law/wife/girlfriend/buddy/etc. that something has come up that will prohibit our attendance at that other function and come along with us.
Kilted, of course.
Either way, we'll do it again. Maybe some regular kilt nights at the pub or somewhere else.
