And thank you for your service. I always remember how my father sailed under the Golden Gate on Xmas eve in 1944 (or there abouts) only to find that all the workers were off duty, so he and the rest of the sailors spent Xmas on the ship within sight of San Francisco.

I am reminded of the quote from George Orwell: "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

I will sleep well tonight because of you.
I've had a somewhat similar thing happen to me... though it was a big storm that turned us around a sent us back out.

Oh, a pint would be so good. Oh well... no pubs open now, plus the bride is sick, which leaves me to mind the children while working on a fur sporran.

I know there's at least one other active Navy member on the forum here... he's in much worse shape than I. Where my sub is presently drydocked and undergoing a massive overhaul, he's in Bahrain. He deserves far more thanks than I.

I sadly have to admit that I started 2007 in a pair of US Navy coveralls (by far the most comfortable uniform item we have). I'm continuing the day in some Bugle Boy jeans and a Sony tee. Mainly because I had intended to be out in the bitter cold working on Project NUBLAZ (my Camaro)... until the wife decided she needed to rest off her cold. I may doff the jeans later and don a kilt while working with some leather.
