First experience kilted with freezing rain

Well today I decided to wear my kilt to work, my car is in an underground garage, so I didn't really know what the weather was like until I got on the road. Two words for you Freezing and Rain, so here I am in my kilt thinking, man I am going to fuh-reeeze when I get out of the car, bad day to be kilted, right? Wrong, I am usually cold by the time I walk through the parking lot on a day like today, however I was toasty warm.

Nobody at work will believe that I am probably warmer than they are. I guess all they have to do is don a kilt and find out.

I wore my SWK heavyweight Irish Saffron all day yestery and saturday...in all kinds of nasy ice and wind and snow...no troubles at all.

I know what you mean. Saturday I was wearing my SWK Heavyweight Blackwatch in temps from 10 to 0 degrees. I was warmer than everyone else around. Well, except for maybe GMan, mudd, corbin and Charles.

Same here in Utah, except when the pleats don't fall right when I get into my truck and the a**s and boys meet the freezing cold seat(moving very fast to rearrange the pleats).

VERY important to keep the pleats under control in the cold!

Weird how this works. Wore mine out on Saturday night in cold weather and found myself sweating "down under". My torso was cool but the kilted parts were toasty. Was wearing a SWK Ancient Lamont (wool).

Yes, kilts are warm in winter and cool in summer.

It.s funny that you mention that. While walking to the light rail several people were walking by shivering, I do mean shivering and said that I was crazy. Then waiting for the light rail I was standing NOT shivering and all the others by me were shaking like a leaf.

People just don't get it.

Good on you lad! Around here its been ice and snow with the lows at about -5 to -10 (F) and highs around +10 or so. I've been kilted every day. Last Friday I as out around campus shooting some snow photos for about two hours all snug in my 5 yard wool kilt. One young man walked by and said "you must be freezing - why not wear pants?" I said - "I'll think about it when it gets cold." he smiled and said "I guess its true, real men do wear kilts"
