I've not had those experiences, but I find that if I sweep and sit on the seat, {legs out of the car}, then pull my feet in, everything works much better.

I had a cold seat experience the other day. I wouldn't call it life changing, but it's certainly voice changing. My body hadn't produced a sound of that pitch since early puberty!

I use Beuth's method for entering a car at all times, kilted or no. Of course, in Atlanta, it's the extreme heat of the seats with which we must concern outselves most often. Nothing like roasted nether regions to ruin an otherwise terrific day!

It assure--as well as possible--that the legs are not in contact with the seat, and it is the easiest way for a codger with occassional back trouble to get in and out.

I find the "double pump" method works well for getting out, but one must be carefule not to flash the whole world.

Glad I'm not alone with this "problem". LOL
I even did my usual "sweep" when I got in the truck. However, the seats are quite deep, and when sitting in them the back of the kilt doesn't quite reach the front edge of the seat. So, even with a proper sweep, a few inches of skin will hit the cold leather. Woohoo!!

Did anyone besides me think of investing a few dollars into an good old army woolen blanket and cover the seat with it? You'd be amazed at the change it makes.

Only had to do this once with the leather seats in my Saab. Have perfected the "sweep" now.

By the way, the method that works best for me is a one-handed sweep. Here's how I do it. Put one foot into the floor board and hang onto the steering wheel. As I go to sit, I "sweep" with the hand that is outside the car and sit. This works everytime and the pleats are nice and flat. Finally, make sure that there are no stray pleats by the door as I close it and get underway.

I had a decorative button print and a seam branded in to my backside for a week.

Yet another reason why I don't like cars.
