I don't know if you remember, as it's probably been a while.. but do you remember what search parameters you used on ebay? I'd love to have a similar amount of success if the opportunity arose.

I think I tried 3 different sets of criteria: "army kilt", "Military kilt" and "highlanders kilt"; all entered into the "All categories" search box. I'm reasonably sure that the one that worked best was the "military" one.

I've often found that you need to give some thought to how you search and try and second guess the poster of the goods that you are seeking. Ebay's search engine does seem a little quirky at times!

I too have covetted an ex-military kilt. Recently I snagged one off eBay for just over $100 CAN: a Black Watch kilt, built (according to the seller) around the same time I was-1953. Its in perfect shape, not even showing marks from a kilt pin. When first I strapped it on I could barely get the straps buckled at the first hole, until I remembered that military kilts ride high. I hitched it up over the bottom of my ribs and easily buckled it to the second set of holes on the straps. Clearly, this baby is made to last and, as you say, is seasonably welcome. I wore it out for the first time to a New Years Eve celebration and survived with aplomb. With any luck it will still be wearable when I celebrate Mozart's 300th and my own 103rd birthday in 2056!
