Here's my box-pleated kilt in 16 oz Ferguson Weathered. It looks - and is - tall on me, but since its damaged selvedge required a hem anyway, I may re-hem it later (when I have nothing else to do. )

This is my first box-pleated kilt. I made it out of a very light wool, no tartan, just vertical and horizontal green stripes on a black background.
It is not hand-sewn but machine-made.

Being only the second kilt I made IŽm quite proud how it came out!

    My Ulster arrived

While I was off doing a training course my Ulster box-pleat arrived. What a joyous homecoming! This is the Ulster tartan, from the House of Edgar. The kilt was made by Matt Newsome, who is now my new hero.

Today is its first outing - I'm heading out to our local St.David/St. Piran's Day celebration of Wales and Cornwall. I'll have to change back into this once I get down to the party - I can ride my bike with a kilt short distances, but not when it is 20 degrees and very windy.....

Here is a shot of the pleats.
