Checked out their site looking for a CD, but it's being revised and is supposed to be up in March. Looking forward to it. I'd love to have some of their music.

They're good, but there's a lot of better groups. Wolfstone, Rare Air, The Tannahill Weavers, and Deaf Shepherd all have amazing pipers!! I won't even metion the Battlefield Band. Have you heard the tune The Canongate Twitch? Mike Katz is brilliant!

Sorry, but I find that sort of thing just gives me a splitting headache after five minutes!
A couple of years back, I went to a live concert by The Tannahill Weavers (who are based locally here in West Sussex!) who are, I think, much more musical than Albannach, but they were horrendously over-amplified in the theatre and I was obliged to leave before the end.

I have to respectfully disagree. Having seen a couple of the bands mentioned I have to say Albannach is a totally different type of sound so it's like comparing apple to oranges. It's hard to describe the difference but Albannach's sound is more "tribal" or "guttural" in nature. It makes the audience respond in a different way than the other bands. The Tannahill Weavers don't get the entire audience jumping up and down to the beat. Albannach does. I have only seen one other band get the audience as worked up as Albannach can. I'm not saying that the other bands aren't as good, just that they couldn't play Albannach's music style as well and Albannach couldn't play their's nearly as well.

Do we know their tour schedule for this summer in USA?
I have the album and it is well produced, they mellow out the rawness of the audio your hear on the vidoes. it is quite stiring music. I believe their motto is keep it tribal.
I highly recommend the album, I play it often on the way to work. Kind of like the movie Apoclypse Now with Wagner music on the chopper as the attack from the sunrise. Is that a weird anaology??? anyway it is better than a cup of starbucks to wake you up. And I dare anybody to cut me off in traffic while I am listening to Albanch.
I will raise my Claymore high and smite them.

Donnie has won his share of Scotland's piping competitions, so it's a struggle to make him out to be chopped liver.
