Albannach
There is a new online Scottish newspaper available, called The Scottish Patriot.
What does this have to do with Celtic music? Well take a look at page 18, where the ticket information about the 14 January 2006 Glasgow Ceilidh is located. They are announcing a new band for this show - Albannach.
And, if you read the entire article, you will see that Albannach was formerly known as Clann an Drumma. There is even a picture of the Albannach band members. With one, notable exception. Joe Kilna Mackenzie is not in that picture.
I was aware that there were a lot of rumors about the band possibly breaking up, but this pretty much puts an end to the rumors...

I think it would be fair top point out that this publication doesnt represent the view of the vast majority of Scots, its very anti English and regardless whats happend in the past weve learned to live in peace with our neighbors across the border (apart from in matters of sport)

WOW, you weren't kidding about the Anti English.... But just like here in the States, I applaud their right to voice their opinions whether I agree with them or not..

Im the first one to scream about overmoderation but, I do feel for the English members of X marks, I am a commitied Nationalist but I dont want an independant Scotland that is xenophobic/anti English and has a hugh chip on its shoulder, When Independance finall arrives the we need to look forward and make the most of our assets ie our oil, gas and fishing industry, and boot the nuclear weapons back south. I am a massive fan of david Ross he is a true patriot, and there are many good articles, but to constantly blame the English for Scotlands problems isnt the answer. Sitting wringing our hands about things that happend hundreds of years isnt going to win over people to the nationaist cause. This is just about the only forum I post on because most other "Scots orientated" forums are mostly full of people bashing the English and demanding revenge for Cullodden or independance (normally by people living outside of Scotland) so I find it a bit depressing that these views are presented as the views of the "Scot in the street" I have no objection to these views being expressed, just so people understand that in a lot of cases they are views of foringners or people who reside outside of scotland -I cant comment about this publication, but as I say it doesnt reflect the views of the vast majority of Scots.

<SIGH>
And the editorial direction of The Scottish Patriot specifically has what to do with the article that I pointed out, announcing the formation of the new band Albannach?
I wasn't asking anyone to get behind the editor of The Scottish Patriot, I was simply citing my source for the information I was posting. See, no racism involved. Would you have preferred a link to the news page on the Royal House of Stewart Web site?
We can discuss the blurred line between a pro-Scots attitude and an anti-english attitude elsewhere, but let's try to steer this particular thread back on-topic, OK?

Wow, that's news - a change of name?? and no Joe? sad in a way.
I received two Clann CD's in the mail just today.
This also explains why I cannot buy a Clann An Drumma T shirt!
As for the magazine, it's interesting, but very political for my taste, and yes, anti-English.
I don't think I have to hate England in order to love Scotland, I love them both, one gave birth to my body, the other to my spirit. (hey, that's pretty poetic isn't it!)

Thanks for clarifying that mike -feel free to sigh, however I dont recall mentioning racism, I simply noted a link to this publication and I felt the need to point out that the views expressed in the other articles dont represent the views of the majority of Scots. I wasnt aware that the house of Stuart were musicians. As for your sarcasm, Your spending too much time here Mike !!!!
best wishes

A lot of people think that what one wears under ones kilt makes a Scot, only when you master Sarcasm can you truly claim that honour!!!
