Hmmmm. Methinks I'll need to make some arrangements to withhold some Guinness Marmite until we get David into a proper Jacobite shirt.

KC,
When you said that I went looking at american kilt makers sites and you're right. The pictures all seem to be the puffier sleeved variety. Although, check out the shirts at Sport-Kilt. The black, white and natual ones seem like what I bought in Scotland whereas the blue and green are much more er.. Erol Flynn looking to me.
Also check out scottishkilts.net and kiltstore.net. They have some nice looking shirts.

I have the black one from Sportkilt. Seems sort of costumey, but not too much. I wear it I'd say once a month.

I've got an off-white one. I don't wear it very much, but I like to have it as an option. For example, tonight we're going to small Scottish-themed dinner at a friend's house, and I'll probably wear it then. My wife really likes it.

Well, I used to wear an offwhite model with a black vest, and there was a guy from Dundee I used to see at the games--a Duncan by name--who wore the same outfit at almost all the games. I figured if a real Scot wore it, it was probably OK.
Then I bought a black one at some local shop that I really like for casual day wear. I don't think either look particularly "costumey," and I am fairly conservative in my dress. But I am sure there are others who would disagree.
Fact is, I like the all cotton, roomy feel of the shirts. But since I started wearing khaki uniform style shirts, I haven't used the Jacobite shirts much. It's just a style/fashion thing no matter what.
Enjoy your shirt.

Dee,
You say that like it's a bad thing!
(says Panache whose favorite movie for the last twenty five years has been The Adventures of Robin Hood. )

Gee, I don't know, I'll have to check the large volume describing the code of conduct for House Chairmen for X Marks the Scot! If I remember correctly I think in terms of a matter of honor like this, the combatants must face each other with martinis at dawn!*
Cheers

* by the by, I love this code of conduct book
